Diamond Jubilee

21 Gun Salute

On Saturday 2nd June 2012 to celebrate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee, Lisburn City Council with 38 (Irish) Brigade held a 21 Gun Salute which took place against the magnificent backdrop of Hillsborough Fort.

The Fort Warders took part in the event standing guard at Hillsborough Castle, processing to Hillsborough Fort with the VIP party and standing guard in the Fort field.

The event concluded with an Army Air Corp flypast and parachute display by the Wild Geese.

Following the 21 Gun Salute

festivities continued within the Fort Ramparts as the Hillsborough Old Guard laid on an afternoon of entertainment for the general public.

Performers for the afternoon were Garvey Silver Band, Lisburn Young Defenders,

Waringsford Pipe Band,

Scottish Dancers, Aldo childrens entertainer and

Elizabeth Morrow singer with the event compered by Housty .

Events concluded with the lighting of a beacon and fireworks display at the Downshire Monument on Monday 4th June 2012.
