Uniformed Group

About us

The Society has put into place the formation of a uniformed group of the Fort Warders. This has been done with the approval of Lord Downshire, who has met with members of the Society. The re-introduction of the Fort Warders would bring a living history to the area, and was hoped that once again the familiar uniform of the “Castlemen” will be a feature of village life, participating in appropriate events within the community. To date six Hillsborough men have been put in uniform with others expressing their willingness to serve on the new body, and are enthusiastic about bringing back its traditions .
